<DIV><FONT face=Arial>For those of you who are not familiar with Judy - she has
been working as an assistant priest in Medford even though she lives in Northern
California. She worked on the Spiritual Team for the Cursillo in Medford last
year. If you haven't gotten to meet her - send her a note anyway - she's one
special lady! She is looking to set up a website through CaringBridge.com...and
I'll keep you posted when that is done. Anne</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial>Dear Family and Friends,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial> Yesterday I saw the oncologist for the first
time and had even more tests and scans scheduled before chemo starts on Monday
in Mount Shasta. I do not want to have to repeat yesterday's trip to
Redding very often, but the Cancer Care Consultants are only in Mt. Shasta on
Mondays. Yesterday was more uncomfortable because before leaving the house
at 6:45 am I had fallen very hard on the floor of my study with a preliminary
bash of my back against my dad's old desk. My how the bruise begins to
blossom today!! I do not look forward to CT and PET scans on Thursday with
that on my back.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial> Information from the oncologist:
I have a form of non-Hodgkins lymphoma, with diffuse large cell B Cells.
It is an intermediate to high grade tumor which is aggressive, but curable. (The
surgeon couldn't find any of the lymph nodes to biopsy closer to the surface
than the mass in the retroperiteneum (sp?). The cancer is probably at a
bulky 2 B stage--I have symptoms--the PET and more CT scan will give more
information. I will probably need 6-8 cycles of R-CHOP chemo, administered
every three weeks with a formula that is tried and true. Then each Tuesday
I get a $500 shot to combat any infection. She mentioned radiation but I
don't know where that fits in. I will lose my hair--an inconvenient time
of year for it. On Friday Dr. Bryner, the surgeon, will put in a
porta-cath. </FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial> Some of you may be receiving this kind
of message from me for the first time. I am just learning (with my sister
Jan's help) how to create group lists and can't even find the name by name list
I used for other messages. If my info bewilders you, I can check the sent
file to send an earlier message or talk to you by phone. I am quite
weak--have lost 20-30 pounds in the last five or six months, most since
August. I am still attending church in Medford each week, but now I think
about ways to reduce the stress and length of the trip. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2> <FONT size=3> Friends have been a
big help, but the angel has been my sister Jan who drove down from Vancouver, WA
on Friday after fixing a big turkey dinner on Thursday. She helped open
the futon for her bed, pushed me to toss many papers in boxes and piles in that
room and fixed most of the meals all weekend from the food she brought.
Then I got backrubs every day! We attended the Christmas parade in Yreka
and went to church in Medford on Sunday. Jan cleaned my house and took
down the clothes line I had strung after the dryer quit a few weeks ago.
Before she left early Monday morning she took two rockers I really didn't have
room for so my housemate with a recovering replaced knee and I can get around
much more safely. Now I can think about Christmas--Jan took down the
Christmas decorations box from the high shelf I would never have
managed.</FONT></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial> I will continue to keep in touch,
especially if anything changes. Thank you for your prayers and help.
Please continue to keep me in mind and prayer.</FONT></DIV>
