Greetings!
I just spent a glorious day with our brothers and sisters in the Lutheran
community for their 1st day of weekend #1 - a co-ed weekend designed to
begin a new community here in Portland.
The team is a very diverse mix of Catholics, Episcopalians (including one of
their deacons), Lutherans and Methodists. They flew in mostly from
California (the bay area) with a few from Virginia - they arrived Thursday
afternoon and headed straight to the camp from the airport - a dedicated
team. They have 9 candidates who really enjoyed their first day.
With a few exceptions, their system is very similar to our "usual" weekend.
Although they tried to contact everyone they knew in the Portland area, they
have received no feedback regarding participation of community. They
realize it was very, very late notice (apologies profusely offered today
from them). They have no angel walk planned, although they are welcoming
community for agape (9pm Saturday).
They were hoping for some community to show up for Mananitas at 6:45am on
Sunday. Realizing that we all just came for the women's weekend a mere 7
days ago, it's a tough thing to ask, but they have zero community at this
time. Location is Canby Grove (website is canbygrove.com for directions).
I'll be going back to play for Clausura on Sunday afternoon and welcome
anyone who is able to attend that to come.
I would also like to request fervent prayers for them as they jump start
their community here. Also, please let me know via private e-mail if
anyone has any openings in their group reunion groups - they will all need a
4th Day community to join until their community gets established - I will
not give out anyone's e-mail unless you have expressly told me to do so -
but it would be nice to offer them a hearty welcome into the community.
Thanks so much!!!!
Loriann
