They did surgery to repair it, but when they started to do physical therapy the next day, his blood pressure dropped and he had a heart attack. They flew him out to the hospital in Santa Rosa, where tests indicate he needs a new heart valve. Unfortunately, they can't do surgery until he heals more, and they can't send him home either. He's 78, and not in the greatest health anyway. Your prayers would be appreciated. This is a follow-up e-mail sent to me the next day. I received an e-mail from my Aunt Marian last night that when she spoke to Uncle Jack, he was having some problems with fluid on the lungs, and had used 2 pints of blood in 2 days....possibly from the leg wound...or possibly the OLD leg wound, they still weren't sure. Pneumonia is always an immediate problem of lying around in a hospital bed. I know they would be grateful for all your prayers. You might recall the aborted attempt at this that took place in December. My friend has had life-long epilepsy due to scar tissue in the temporal lobe of her brain. A section the size of a plum was scheduled to come out (fortunately, her language center is on the other side) in order to ameliorate the seizures. However, a particular error before the surgery meant she had to reschedule. So, we're gearing up again for an attempt tomorrow. Please spare a moment tonight or tomorrow morning to hold Amy, her family, and the doctors and support staff in your prayers. Thank you, and Ultreya! When I spoke to Meg again at 7:00, Amy was watching Animal Planet. As for anticipated negative effects, they expect a little vision loss in her left eye across the top (they had warned her about that before going in), as if she were wearing a hat with a very wide brim. St. Hilda's is excited about hosting this event and re-energizing their community. Please RSVP to me if you are able to come. Just an interested party. If you have any questions, contact me. There is NO COST or fees. There will be a donation plate should you want to provide a donation as a means of thanking the St. Hilda's Community. HOUSING - If you don't want to say overnight at the church then you would be responsible for the cost of the hotel or motel room that you're at. If you live nearby and want to go home - that's cool with me too as long as you're there ready to go on Saturday. We will be sleeping in the church hall. FOOD - St. Hilda's is providing the meals for the weekend. If you want something to snack on or have special foods that you can only eat - then bring those items. I need names by Monday, Feb. 5th so that St. Hilda's can purchase food supplies. BRING - Comfortable clothing, sleeping bag & pad, no showers. Pen/Pencil - pad of paper if you want - they will be provided. Late comers and walk-ins will not be turned away! Below is the agenda for the weekend. Thanks, Anne 541-267-5147 P.S. There is a new interchange there off Highway 22 and I'm sure it probably says Monmouth on the signpost. Head south on 99W. 99W goes right through Monmouth. When you get to the stoplight in Monmouth (there is a Dutch Brothers on your left, and a 76 station on your right) take RIGHT onto Main. Go down Main to the stop sign (6 or 7 blocks). Go straight through the stop sign, and St, Hilda's is a little red church on the LEFT. I invite you to an opportunity to witness to the power of the Holy Spirit working within our Church. Susan Philbrook is organizing a group of Cursillo musicians to lead the ministry of music during the Day of Sacrament and Song. On that Day Bishop Itty will baptize, confirm and receive new members into the Episcopal Church. I invite you to come and support these children and adults on their journey with Christ. In my early walk with Christ, it was people like you who encouraged and supported my with their faith, hope and love. I encourage you let your light shine at All Saints' during the Day of Sacrament and Song. Talk it up and encourage your friends to come and share you joy in Christ. The Day of Sacrament and Song will be held at All Saints', 4033 SE Woodstock Blvd, Portland, on February 10, 2007 from 9:30 am until 2:00 pm. This wonderful event is a gathering of all of the Episcopal congregations in the geographical grouping known as the Metro East Convocation. Last year All Saints' led the way in this innovative event of common celebration of the sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Eucharist as well as Confirmation and Re-affirmation of Faith. Choirs from numerous congregations and Cursillo provided music for worship and praise. Many Episcopalians came to a deeper commitment to Christ Jesus through this traditional yet contemporary expression of faith and fellowship. In preparation for this event, I invite you to pray and plan. Please check with your ministers of music as well. All choirs are invited to participate in the day including the service of Holy Eucharist. I have attached a copy of the DSS schedule for your convenience. All clergy of the Convocation are invited to be present and vest for the celebration of Holy Eucharist.
