Message-ID: The Branches Ministry I am the vine, you are the branches . love each other . show your love through your actions . John 15 DeColores, My name is Bill McCartney and I am in a Cursillo reunion group at Grace Episcopal Church, Cullman, Alabama. The reason for this e-mail is I need your favorite recipe(s) for inclusion in an international cookbook I'm publishing to help fund The Branches Ministry. This is a ministry my reunion group began in October, 2006. Branches is a fund, administered by our rector, to help people bridge significant financial hardships. Its focus is on helping with travel, food, and accommodations required when being treated at out-of-town clinics, and other large health care expenses not covered by insurance. Help with other types of financial hardships will also be considered as funds allow. Since my reunion group's job is to lead funding for this ministry, I initiated this project as a personal Apostolic Action. I think it would also be great fun to serve an African appetizer to a reunion group in Australia, or dessert from Bermuda at an ultreya in Canada, or snacks from Wales to a Homecoming Celebration in Alabama! Yet, Delicious 4th Day Dishes (the cookbook's working title) is planned to go beyond funding Branches and providing a collection of the world's best recipes. It will serve to remind us that, like the rooster's multi-colored feathers, each Cursillista or diocese represents only one facet of the whole. Too, inspirational prayers, poems, and other readings will be included to make it a wonderful agape gift appropriate for all types of memorable occasions. We never know what will turn the Christ Light on for others, or make it shine brighter in ourselves. Perhaps something in one of the readings will enable more of us to: Make a friend, Be a friend, Bring a friend to Christ more often, or be the tipping point for a friend to decide on coming. ****************************** Please help by taking two actions now: 1 - Send "Recipe Palanca!" E-mail me your favorite recipe(s) to _bmccartney@askAristo.com_ (mailto:bmccartney@askAristo.com) . Please include: Your Name - The full name of your church - Your City, (State), Country as part of each recipe you submit. If you are sending multiple recipes as separate attachments, include your name, church, etc. on each one so when hundreds are printed, your recipe can still be identified as yours. 2 - Help me reach lots of other people who are living their 4th Day. Please send this entire e-mail to everyone you know who attended a Cursillo (or similar) weekend. Include your ultreya, ultreya leaders, Secretariat, rector, and those you went through your weekend with. Add a personal note at the top asking them to send recipes to me, and this message to those they know who are in other diocese or countries. The goal is to make this an international effort filled with delicious dishes from every continent. However, it can only be accomplished one willing heart at a time. I pray your heart is. ***************************** Delicious 4th Day Dishes is expected to be ready to ship by the end of 2007. I will be sending another note out as soon as it is. In that message I will include a list of all expenses and the amount going directly into The Branches Ministry Fund from the sale of each book. In the interest of full disclosure I am being purposefully vague about "expenses" because there are too many unknowns at this point. For instance, the number of pages, type of paper and binding, how much color will be included, and other printing costs cannot be determined now. Also, if the number of books purchased is "small," there will probably be no expenses paid from its sales beyond direct printing and shipping costs. However, I am praying for, and anticipating, a "large" response. If it is "large," then some amount will be paid to my publishing company to cover marketing, inventorying, packaging, handling customer inquiries, web page hosting, on-line transaction processing costs, and other expenses incurred from selling Delicious 4th Day Dishes. Yet, whether the volume sold is "small" or "large," Branches will receive the bulk of all revenue in excess of direct printing and shipping costs. The primary goal will always be to maximize the ability of Branches to help people bridge financial crises. In the meantime, we would love for you to visit us at Grace's new web site: _http://www.gracecullman.org/_ (http://www.gracecullman.org/) . Thank-you for helping us bring this ministry to fruition. Ultreya! Bill McCartney _bmccartney@askAristo.com_ (mailto:bmccartney@askAristo.com) 256.739.6828 1440 Greenwood Dr. NE Cullman, AL 35055 NOTE : It may not be feasible to include every recipe received. However, every effort will be made to include at least one from every person. If your recipe(s) is not included in the first edition it will be held for subsequent ones. In case of duplicates, the recipe received first will be the one used.
